All individuals living, working or visiting Skokie are required to use a face cover over their nose and mouth while working at or patronizing a business open to the public, in situations that bring them in close proximity to others and when using public transportation or rideshares. This includes but is not limited to grocery stores, restaurants, retail stores, hardware and building supply stores, financial institutions, laundry services, pharmacies, group homes and assisted living, and includes any curbside or home-delivery staff.
Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2 or anyone who is unable to remove the mask without assistance. Wearing a cloth face covering is not a substitute for practicing social distancing of remaining six feet away from others.

This is consistent with the CDC’s recent recommendation to wear cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, such as grocery stores and pharmacies. CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used.
