Do I need to move my car?
If crews are working on your block – yes! Moving your vehicle is helpful even if crews are working on the opposite side of the street. Operations on each block should take one to two days to complete. Crews keep an inventory of trees to be pruned. If a parked vehicle obstructs tree pruning operations, crews will return and will place “No Parking” signs in advance.
Why does my parkway tree have to be pruned?
Trees are pruned for clearance, deadwood, and structure only. Removing low branches when trees and branches are small is preferred because pruning wounds are smaller. Work may be particularly noticeable on young trees. If low branches aren’t pruned, trees can later be damaged by trucks, plows and other vehicles, sometimes requiring the removal of an entire tree.
Will brush be removed from the area?
Yes. Brush is collected and chipped at the end of the day. If brush still remains the morning after tree pruning, contact Public Works at 847-933-8427 or via Access Skokie and staff will alert the contractor.
