Niles Center Road will be closed to all through traffic from Main to Dempster Streets beginning Thursday, November 2 through Saturday, November 11 as the CTA completes railroad grade crossing maintenance work.
Work will take place on weekdays and weekends for the duration of the project, with the potential for round-the-clock work as needed. The CTA will work to minimize inconveniences to area residents and businesses.
Travel and Neighborhood Impacts
- Niles Center Road, from Main to Dempster Streets, will be closed to all through traffic and open to local traffic only. Vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians will not be able to cross the CTA tracks on Niles Center Road. Detour signage will be posted.
- Access to local businesses will remain open.
- Construction activities will generate some noise. In addition, light will be present in the work zone at night throughout the project.
- CTA Yellow Line service will be interrupted on Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5, with shuttle buses running between the Howard and Dempster Street stations. (CTA Bus Route 97 runs between Howard and Oakton stations.) View CTA service changes (.PDF).
