The Skokie Police Department recently applied for and received two grants from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) totaling more than $245,000, which will reimburse the department for expenses related to its body-worn and squad car camera technology.
The two grants include:
- $235,774.40 for the cost of body-worn and squad car cameras
- $11,642.08 for related video data storage
As of January 2023, all Skokie Police officers received body-worn camera training and have been issued and are wearing the cameras.
“The Skokie Police Department is committed to public safety, transparency, and strong financial stewardship of taxpayer resources,” said Police Chief Brian Baker. “We appreciate the ILETSB’s support in implementing body-worn camera and squad car camera technology.”
