[ARCHIVED] Skokie Farmers' Market Opens June 4

Farmers Market vendor and patrons

On Sunday, June 4, the Village of Skokie Farmers’ Market will kick off another season providing visitors with fresh produce, bakery items, flowers, coffee, cheese and much more.

The Market takes place every Sunday, June 4 through November 5, weather permitting, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and is located at 5127 Oakton St., in Skokie. Free parking is available in the Village parking lots.

Visitors are encouraged to come hungry, as a variety of ready-to-eat items are available for purchase on site.

New Vendors

This season, more than 40 vendors are slated to sell goods at the Market. New vendors include Bennison’s Bakery, Ralph’s Red Hots, Mindful Baking, Kugel Farms, LLC and more. A complete list of vendors and a schedule is available at skokie.org/506/Vendors.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Thanks to LINK Up Illinois and the generous support of NorthShore University HealthSystem, the Skokie Farmers’ Market will again offer its Match program, which provides Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients with up to $25 per day in matching funds for LINK Card purchases made at the Market.

Food and Clothing Donations

For the second year in a row, the Skokie Commission on Family Services is hosting a monthly donation drive at the Skokie Farmers Market. Last year, the program distributed more than 6,000 pounds of fresh produce to Niles Township Food Pantry and 235 large bags of clothing to Niles Township Clothing Closet at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Both organizations serve local families.

Donate: This year, community members are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food, toiletries and clothing for all ages on monthly collection days. Collections will take place on the last Sunday of the month, 9 a.m. to noon, throughout the summer (June 25, July 30, August 27, September 24 and October 29). Donations are collected at the main entrance to the farmers market – look for the Skokie Commission on Family Services banner.

About the Market

The Skokie Farmers' Market is hosted by the Skokie Consumer Affairs Commission. Pets are not permitted in the Market. The Skokie Farmers’ Market is a smoke-free outdoor market.
