On May 1, the Village Board of Trustees recognized the Community Development Department’s Building & Inspection Services Division as well as Public Works, Fire and Engineering staff for their efforts to support safety and sustainability in all Skokie structures – from the foundation to the roof. (Watch the team in action.)
Skokie’s team of building safety professionals includes plan and permit reviewers, a plumbing and mechanical inspector, electrical and signage inspector, structural inspector, property maintenance inspectors, right-of-way inspector, and Skokie Fire Department inspectors. Working together, they help ensure Skokie homes, schools, businesses and other structures meet building codes and are safe for all occupants.
In the last year, Village Building and Inspection Services staff:
- Conducted 6,590 building inspections
- Issued 120 certificates of occupancy
- Performed 4,932 property complaint inspections
Thank you to our behind-the-scenes building experts for their work to keep our community safe.
