[ARCHIVED] Introducing Platinum Pest Solutions: Skokie's New Pest Control Contractor

pests

The Village of Skokie is proud to announce that we have partnered with Platinum Pest Solutions, a leading pest control contractor, to help manage and reduce rat activity in our community. With a reputation for effective, environmentally conscious, and responsible pest control methods, Platinum Pest Solutions is committed to ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for all Skokie residents.

As a Village let’s work together to eliminate the top contributing factors for rat activity:

Yard Waste Accumulation
Yard waste, such as grass clippings, fallen leaves, and branches, provides an ideal habitat for rats, as it offers shelter and nesting materials. To avoid yard maintenance, timely disposal of waste, and utilizing appropriate waste collection services provided by the village.

Bird Feeding
While bird feeding is a popular activity among Skokie residents, it can inadvertently contribute to rat activity. Birds often scatter seeds on the ground, which attracts rats to the readily available food source. When rat activity is observed we suggest limiting bird feeding and or removing bird feeders until rats have been removed.

Improperly Stored Trash
Improperly stored trash is a significant factor that attracts rats, providing them with a consistent food source. Use proper waste management practices, such as placing trash inside of trash bags and using trash bins with tight-fitting lids with no holes.

Animal Feces
Pet waste and animal feces are often overlooked but can contribute to rat activity. Rats are attracted to the smell of feces, which provides them with another potential food source. Promptly clean up after pets to keep your yard free of animal waste.
