Skokie Electric Aggregation Update: 4,000 Letters to Be Mailed to Households Week of December 19, 2022
In August 2021 the Village Board approved to enter into a three-year electrical aggregation contract with MC Squared Energy Services (MC2). Only some accounts have been identified to be automatically enrolled in the program. Contrary to the past aggregation program in 2012, savings to individual account holders is negligible. Instead, the primary benefit of the program is that the Village receives a civic grant to support sustainability initiatives.
MC Squared Energy Services is updating their eligibility list and accounts to include new move-ins or other customers that may now qualify for the program based on electricity usage patterns.
If you received an Opt-Out Letter, no action is necessary and you will automatically be enrolled in the program unless you choose to opt-out. Your electricity rate will always match the current ComEd rate, it will never be higher or lower than the ComEd rate.
Please be aware that MC Squared will NOT solicit door to door for this program and they will not be calling you unless you initiate a call. Do not give your ComEd bill to anyone at your door.
For those wishing to support local renewable energy and receive direct savings, check out Skokie’s community solar program. You do not need to install solar panels to participate.
