From the Skokie Police Department: No Illegal Fireworks
The possession, transportation or use of illegal fireworks is a Class A misdemeanor in the State of Illinois, and the use of illegal fireworks is dangerous and can lead to serious injury. Nationwide, there were over 10,000 fireworks injuries requiring a trip to the emergency room in 2021. Fireworks also create other issues for residents, with both people and pets disturbed by the noise caused by fireworks. There also is the potential to damage property from errant firework debris. Skokie Police officers will respond and appropriately handle all calls for service regarding fireworks complaints. If found in violation of any fireworks statutes, fireworks may be confiscated, and individuals can be cited. Call the Skokie Police Department non-emergency number, 847/982-5900, to report violations.
