Holiday Light and Christmas Tree Recycling

Skokie Public Works will again participate in the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County’s popular holiday light recycling program held in partnership with Elgin Recycling. 

Through January 31, 2022, strands of holiday lights may be dropped off in the container located outside the Skokie Public Works main entrance at 9050 Gross Point Road. Drop offs accepted Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information visit www.elginrecycling.com or call Skokie Public Works at 847/933-8427.

Note about recycling Christmas trees:
Skokie Public Works crews will pick up Christmas trees for recycling from January 3 through January 21, 2022. Here are the recycling guidelines: Place the trees where your refuse is picked up. Please remove all bags, lights, tinsel, garland, and ornaments from the tree. After January 21, 2022, special requests can be made for Christmas tree pick up through the Village's Access Skokie app.
