Donate to the 2021 Assist-A-Family Campaign!

Please consider supporting the 2021 Skokie Assist-A-Family Program. Each year the generosity of our community helps Skokie families struggling with limited financial resources celebrate the winter holidays. Families receive gift cards for area businesses which they use to purchase food, household necessities and other items specific to each family member’s needs. Last year, some 210 Skokie households, which included nearly 429 children and a total of 385 individual household members, received support through the Skokie Assist-A-Family program.

The need is greater this year than ever due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past few months, Human Services social workers have been in contact with numerous Skokie families and individuals who have suffered both human and economic loss from the pandemic and helped provide support and contacts to other community resources:

  • Skokie resident couple of over 20 years who both lost their jobs, and for the first time ever, requested assistance to meet housing costs.
  • Single mom with three children, starting over after a domestic violence divorce, received assistance with housing, emotional support and more.
  • A family was quarantined due to COVDI-19, and while the wife was hospitalized, the father was home unable to work for over a month. The support helped the family meet expenses and stay in their home.

Those interested in making a donation this year are asked to please do so by Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Make an online donation to the 2021 Skokie Assist-A-Family Program. Checks also are accepted and should be made payable to the Village of Skokie, with Skokie Assist-A-Family Program noted on the memo line. Checks should be mailed to Village of Skokie, Health and Human Services Department, 5127 Oakton Street, Skokie, Illinois, 60077.

For further information, please contact the Health and Human Services Department at 847-933-8208.
