[ARCHIVED] 8000 North Update

8000 North Rendering

Construction continues at a rapid pace for the 8000 North project being constructed on the northwest corner of Lincoln Avenue and Oakton Street in Downtown Skokie.  This mixed-use development will feature a 153-unit, 12-story luxury apartment building and ground-floor retail space. Shakou Restaurants, a popular Asian-Fusian group operating in the North and Northwest Suburbs will anchor the ground floor corner space of the project along with other businesses.  8000 North also includes a six-story parking garage with 73 public parking spaces for the development and Downtown Skokie visitors beyond the 192 private resident parking spaces. The residential building will offer studios, one- and two-bedroom units, along with a number of three-bedroom residences on the twelfth floor. The building’s rooftop amenity level includes a fitness center, great room with fireplace, outdoor barbecue area, coffee lounge, garden areas and other amenities – including views of the Chicago skyline - for building tenants to enjoy.

Construction of the residential tower of the 8000 North project began in late October 2020.  Construction crews are currently pouring the concrete for the 11th floor with anticipated completion of the final 12th floor by the end of February 2021.  Overall, the project is anticipated for completion in late 2021 or early 2022.  Over 265 interested people have requested pre-leasing information on apartment rentals in the building.  Construction financing for 8000 North residential tower was provided by Wintrust bank and is a joint partnership between Murphy Development and the Village. The project cost is expected to be nearly $70 million and will be a transformative project for Downtown Skokie, the Village and North Shore. See more information from the developer's website.

The 8000 North development team includes renowned architects from Lucien Lagrange Studio, Pamela Self Landscape Architects, General Contractor W.E. O’Neil and several other preeminent development professionals.
