    Are you new to Medicare or close to your enrollment date? Have you been a Medicare beneficiary for some time but never really understood your coverage? This program will review the basics of Medicare coverage from A to D. This program will give an overview of the Medicare program and share information to help inform you with health care decisions in the future. Please register by calling the Skokie Park District at 847-674-1500, ext. 2700 at least one week in advance to meet class minimum.

  3. Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Event-Sign-Up Assistance

    November 19, 2019, 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM @ Skokie Public Library

    Select the best Medicare Part D option for you. Trained health care counselors from Congresswoman Schakowsky’s office, the Village of Skokie, and CJE will take personal appointments to help you. Understand the process and select the right option for you. To sign up, call the library or visit the Information Desk. The Medicare Open Enrollment period for 2019 is October 15–December 7. At your appointment, compare your current plan to what other plans offer so you get the one that’s best for you. New enrolles may also sign up. Bring to your appointment your Medicare card, details about your current plan, and a list of prescriptions you take.

    Skokie Family Caregiver Support Group facilitated by North Shore Senior Center hosted by the Village of Skokie Human Services Division. Come meet other caregivers in and around the Skokieland area. We can help you find the emotional support services you may need as the primary caregiver: one-on-one supportive counseling, caregiver support groups, free workshops designed for caregivers, and the opportunity to discuss your issues and concerns with our Caregiver Specialists.   1. HeartSaver CPR/AED Community Class

    November 16, 2019, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Skokie Fire Station #17

    The class is American Heart Association's Heart Saver CPR course. It is geared to the citizen, NOT the Health Care provider. The class covers CPR, A.E.D. (automated external defibrillator), and foreign airway obstruction (choking) for adults, children, and infants. Please dress comfortably. CPR classes are held the 3rd Saturday of each month (except December) from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Class size: Minimum 4 students, Maximum 15 students Registration closes the Thursday before the class. Walk-ins not accepted. If the minimum isn't met, you will be notified via the email you registered with and the option to reschedule for another class. You will need to have an email address or access to an email account when registering. After successfully completing the course you will receive a certification card good for two (2) years from the AHA.
