Low Vision Support Group
This group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton, Skokie. All interested are encouraged to attend. Guest speakers, research information and exhibits are arranged throughout the year. There is no charge or age minimum for this program.
Hearing Loss Support Group
This group meets the third Monday of every month.There is no age minimum for the program. Discussions and topics vary. For further information, or to confirm the locations of the next meeting, please call Human Services.
The Lending Closet offers Skokie residents the use of wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches. Standard folding wheelchairs are available for loan up to six months. Only one six-month wheelchair is permitted per household per year. Lightweight travel wheelchairs may be borrowed for 24 hours or through a weekend.
A valid I.D. showing proof of residency is required for all loans.

Home Delivered Meals
This volunteer program is a collaboration with Skokie Hospital. Participants are homebound Skokie residents who are not able to prepare a nutritious meal at home for themselves, or without the aid of someone to prepare appropriate meals for them. Meals are delivered between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Most medical diets can be accommodated. There is a nominal cost for the meals. For more information or to volunteer, call 847-933-8208.
